Pastor Jerry W. Beaver
Jerry was born and raised in Virginia. Jerry grew up in an unsaved home. In his teenage years, he got into rock music, and played in various heavy metal and rock bands locally. While working at Corning, one of his co-workers invited Jerry to attend Gateway Baptist Church in Blacksburg, Virginia. After the service he got saved. Shortly after being saved and baptized, Jerry was called into the ministry. While in Bible College he married Heidi, and upon his graduation, he was called to be the pastor of Victory Baptist Church in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin.
He pastored there for almost ten years, and is now the senoir pastor of TBC. Pastor Beaver has a Master’s degree in Biblical Counseling, and is currently enrolled in a PhD program. He has authored several of books: Walking Through the Valleys of Life, based on Psalm 23, which has sold over 3,500 copies, and will have a second edition out in 2012. Likewise Jerry & Heidi co-authored the book Christian Modesty, A Matter of the Heart. Pastor Beaver also has a couple personal websites that he runs, www.jerrybeaver.net and www.preachercentral.com The Beavers have four children; Seth (8), Samuel (6), Isaiah (3) and Isaac (2).
Onsy Whicker (Pastor Emeritus)
Pastor Whicker was one of the early missionaries to South Korea, in which he was very well known for his work there. He also pastored in Washington state, worked on staff at Pacific Coast Baptist Bible College, and pastored TBC for 25 years. He was voted as honorary Pastor Emeritus in 2006. He and his precious wife, Betty, faithfully attend the church and serve the Lord in any capacity they can.
Pete Merlo (Director of Outreach)
Pete Merlo surrendered to preach in the summer of 1977. After graduating from Roswell High in 1978 he attended Oklahoma Baptist College receiving his degree from Baptist Bible College West in Denver. In 1985, along with Steve Whicker, Pete was one of the founding pastors of Community Baptist Church in Franktown, Colorado. Pete served as Associate Pastor there until 1994 when he became Senior Pastor of Bible Baptist Church in Silver City, NM. He pastored there until 2005. Upon moving to Roswell, hehas been on staff at Tabernacle since August 2005. Pete and Tamera were married in 1987 and have one son Ian, 17. Pete is the director of Bus, Evangelism and the Senior Ministry.
Jason Perry (Music, Youth, Children, and Education)
Brother Jason Perry has been on staff here at Tabernacle Baptist Church since February of 2008. He and his bride, Deena, have seven children and work together as a team to lead our youth and children into the direction of serving the Lord Jesus Christ with passion. Brother Perry has been in the ministry for 17 years. God sent him to Tabernacle from the mission field in Mexico while fighting a dabilitating illness. He has not allowed physical problems to keep him from serving the Lord. Brother Perry is our Minister of Youth, Children, and Education along with directing our music department.
